In 1959 Les Allwood set up his sail loft in Brisbane and began Allwood Sails. Over the following years he built sails that featured and won many National Titles in Sabots, Moths, Cherubs, Skiffs, Cats, monohull racing and cruising boats. In the mid 1980's Les retired and then his son Clive, wife Wendy and staff assumed the running of the business.

Manders Sails was established in 1966 by George Manders who worked with the greats of the industry. One of the most famous was Bob Miller (later known as Ben Lexen). Greg Ellis moved to Queensland in 1976 and worked with George until 1987 when George retired. Greg then purchased the sail loft and has continued the tradition of making quality sails and covers using the latest technology, best industry practices, the best materials available, and old fashioned care and attention to detail.
